Poking At Bucket Lists

Lorraine holds rod prodding at a bucket with a list in itThere seems to be a fair bit of crazy-crazy happening around the world right now.

I shouldn’t be surprised the Shower Thoughts topic this morning was bucket lists.

I don’t have one.

Never have really.

The lone item would be attending a high performance driving school.

And if it never happened – meh, no biggie.

Granted, for a while the lack of interest turned into a bit of aversion.

Mom passed a couple weeks after she checked the last item off her short list.

Not that the check mark caused her death.

More so, she squeaked in the trip.

But it does bring up the question –

Is it better to complete your bucket list or

have tons of things left to do?

If you’ve done everything, then what?

If you can’t complete everything, are you a failure?

Is a bucket list the same as a BHAG (big hairy audacious goal)?

(I have one of those.)

Do you define your bucket list or

does your bucket list define you?

What if your bucket list was super small?

Or changed?

Or didn’t exist at all?

If a bucket list identifies things you want to do,

what brings attention to who you desire to be?

What would be worse –

not doing everything you want to do or

not being who you truly desire to be?

What if all that you wanted to do was a reflection of you being truly you?

What kind of bucket list would that be?

Well, that’s a fair bit of pot stirring.

Seems a longer shower or a bigger tea pot is in order to ponder all of that.

How about you?

If you have a bucket list, have you stepped back lately to look at what it’s telling you?
