Passion In The Trenches

Sketch of woman trying to pain despite obstacles in her wayA simple musing today –

What if your passion is the thing that takes the most effort to make sure it happens?

Where are you in for the long haul?

Over the past few weeks a few things have come to mind:

~ the couple marking their one year anniversary helping abandoned and stray cats

~ the Brazillian who’s spent a decade trying to put the spotlight on curling in his home country

~ the friend who stepped into a dream newly created position that was years in the making

~ the friends who lead animal rescues and sanctuaries over, through, around and despite the hurdles and heartbreaks on a daily basis

~ the friends who foster cats knowing full well they will have to say good-bye sooner better than later

~ the friends who won’t leave their art behind, if only for a few minutes here and there, no matter how much gets thrown in their way

Passion doesn’t guarantee easy, effortless, or exuberant.

Passion isn’t riding a high or not working a day in your life.

Passion is the energy that keeps you going through the grunge work, rough patches and the times when you can’t see the next step.

Passion is an expression of the real you.

You being you is what gets you through the tough times and makes the good times even sweeter.

If you’ve been wondering what your passion is, one place to look is what you keep working at to keep alive.

Signs of a spark or ember, or even the slightest wisp of smoke will do.

That which is long forgotten or well ignored can provide hints too.

Won’t cover every situation.

But something to consider.
